Thinktechniq lends a hand in Cook to Connect: Fostering inclusiveness and integration among Singaporeans and the migrant community

An initiative by ItsRainingRaincoats (IRR) and The Whitehatters

Cook to Connect (C2C) is an initiative by ItsRainingRaincoats (IRR) and The Whitehatters. It seeks to connect migrant workers and Singapore residents through a shared love for food. It included two live-stream cooking shows (with migrant workers cooking alongside) and a care pack donation drive in December 2020.

Thinktechniq recently contributed as the Social Media Marketing lead for the Cook to Connect initiative. We resonated with ItsRainingRaincoats’ ‘do good effectively and innovatively’ approach. Constant innovation and purposeful work is what we do at Thinktechniq. Hence when The Whitehatters reached out to seek volunteers for the Cook to Connect initiative, we raised our hand to help out with social media management on a pro bono basis. We were tasked with creation of digital content and graphics, social media posting, and live-stream management for the initiative, which saw care pack items collected from the general public and delivered to more than 1,000 migrant worker friends across 15 locations and migrant worker friends tuning in to cook along during the live-streams.

A total of 12 social media posts were prepared and rolled out over the course of three weeks. The posts reached 111,700 people collectively and generated 9,698 engagements (likes, comments, shares). The yam cake (20Dec) and duck curry (27Dec) live-stream cooking shows received 1,700 and 1,100 unique 3-sec views respectively.

Knowing that our work brings positive impact is a key ingredient to job satisfaction, a satisfaction we experienced indeed in our recent work for the Cook to Connect initiative!

We applaud the organizers for such an innovative cause to connect the locals with the migrant worker community. We’re honoured and glad to have played a part in this cause.
